Crawl, Walk, Run: Delivering Meaningful Outcomes Through Iteration and an Agile Mindset

Large, enterprise‑wide initiatives are inherently complex. Spanning technology, people, and business processes, it’s easy to stumble under the weight of “big‑bang” expectations. In this session, I'll share how applying a crawl, walk, run philosophy and an iterative, agile mindset helped our organization deliver meaningful outcomes through a multi‑year CRM transformation while managing risk, driving adoption, and learning along the way.

Using CRM as a real‑world case study, we can explore how agility extends beyond project management and delivery methods to influence change management, governance, operating models, and day‑to‑day oversight. Attendees will hear practical lessons on starting small, prioritizing user experience, embedding feedback loops, and balancing structure with flexibility in complex environments. While the use case is CRM, the insights translate across industries and projects -- wherever organizations are navigating enterprise change, evolving platforms, or large‑scale transformations.

This talk is designed for project and change leaders seeking practical approaches to simplify complexity, align teams, and deliver value incrementally, without losing sight of long‑term vision or organizational readiness.

This session aligns directly with PMI’s M.O.R.E. framework by emphasizing perception, ownership, continuous reassessment, and broad perspective to ensure outcomes are truly worth the effort invested.

Learning Objectives

1. Evaluate how a crawl, walk, run delivery strategy supports value delivery and risk optimization in complex, enterprise‑wide initiatives by enabling incremental outcomes, informed decision‑making, and sustained stakeholder engagement.

2. Describe how adopting an agile mindset influences broader project leadership responsibilities, including change management, governance, operating models, and organizational readiness -- not just delivery practices.

3. Apply practical techniques for managing complexity, such as user‑centered prioritization, feedback loops, and adaptive planning to improve alignment, adoption, and outcomes across diverse industries and transformation efforts.
