Programs - July 2009

July 2009 Central Ohio PMI Programs  Theme:  Corporate PMO Evolution

Installing a good PMO at the right time is essential.  A good PMO is one that recognizes the needs of the organization to install standards, techniques, and performance measures.  Communication is required to keep both development and operations vigorous.  As a corporation goes through its evolutionary stages (increased growth, productivity and maturity), fitting the right solution to the current problem is key.  Ensuring your PM toolbox contains this knowledge is the driving reason for March’s theme: Corporate PMO Evolution.  Each of July’s events will address a different aspect of the theme.  The July 9 Chapter Evening Meeting and July 24 Half Day Workshop will be presented by Alan Cline, Terry Wiegmann & Bill Houston.  Brad Clark will present the March 15 Chapter Breakfast Meeting.

Programs - August 2009

August 2009 Central Ohio PMI Programs  Theme:  Art of Project Management

While methodologies and tools are important, successful project managers will tell you and recent research has shown that the “Soft Skills” are the ones that separate average project managers from the best project managers.  In fact, the research has shown that 70% of project management can be attributed to the soft skills while only 30% relates to the “hard” or technical skills.  Not only are soft skills critical for managing projects, they are absolutely necessary for any good manager or leader to master.  The soft skills are what separate the best project managers from the rest!  Ensuring your PM toolbox contains this knowledge is the driving reason for August’s theme: Art of Project Management.  Each of August’s events will address a different aspect of the theme.  August 13 Chapter Evening Meeting, August 14 One Day Workshop, and August 26 Chapter Breakfast Meeting will be presented by Pamela Nintrup.

PMICOC Virtual Food Drive

hunger.jpgEach year, Mid-Ohio Foodbank joins forces with local businesses, schools, civic groups and individuals to raise critically needed donations for the Operation Feed community-wide food drive. This effort helps stock the shelves of hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters in central and eastern Ohio.

The PMI Central Ohio Chapter is forming a team to participate in the Operation Feed Virtual Food Drive because there are too many children, families and senior citizens facing the same basic need - they don’t have enough food. Demand for emergency food assistance is now up 20% and will continue to grow each day during this economic crisis. By participating in the Operation Feed Virtual Food Drive, we can help feed hungry people in my own neighborhood.
